What Do You Do When... have too many books lying around the house, collecting dust, hard to access, forgotten behind piles of other books (collecting dust, hard to access, etc., etc.)?

You build a bookshelf, of course :)
This is the section I built yesterday after work. I'm going to build another (narrower) section on top, just to below the top of the door frame. After I finish building, I'm going to paint the boards the same color white as the trim, so it kind of blends in and seems like it's supposed to be there. Should be fun!

  1. Oh, how awesome! Do you own all the tools to cut wood, etc.? How do you not annoying the neighbors with all your building. So cool. Well done. I can't wait to see it with all the books nestled upon it.

  2. 1) I don't own all the tools I'd like, but I get by.. mostly with a jig saw and some drills (for pilot holes!)
    2) I don't know if I annoy our neighbors with building :) I don't do it terribly late into the night (I stopped by 8:30 or so last night), and I do most of the cutting in the bathroom, far away from (almost) all our shared walls. Our building is mostly young professionals, who are up late w/ loud music on anyway.
    3) I will definitely take pictures when I put all our books away :) Maybe we'll even have room for MORE books--and a certain one we got on farming recently :)
